Dive Site at Thetford Reef
Thetford Reef is a two-kilometre long explosion of colour, located seventy kilometres east of Cairns. With scattered coral heads, sandy floor regions attracting sparkling schools of sea life, and plenty of swim-throughs for adventurers. The massive gorgonian fans and soft coral, giant clams, butterflyfish, rabbitfish, damsels, angelfish, and pipefish are always visible.
Here you will find Coral reefs with multi-coloured Christmas worms and anemones full of cheeky anemone fish that make for colourful photographs. Larger pelagic fish, such as mackerel, tuna, trevally, wrasse, spangled emperor, red bass, blue and gold fusiliers, and serjeant majors, frequent Thetford Reef.
Nearby reefs include Milln and Pellowe reefs.
